Details and materiality work hand in hand in architecture. The architectural detail as an expression of material tectonics is the primary means through which design ideals and construction realities are reconciled.
Broad SKYLIGHT CONSTRUCT
This construct was based off of he Broad’s skylight but with an exploration in materiality. This construct uses vermiculite to create a lightweight version of concrete to mimic the Broad’s fiberglass exterior. It also uses the same materials such as the wood planks, exterior glass, and steel as the structural frame.
